About
Matt McGregor is a filmmaker originating from the vibrant streets of Long Island, New York. Matt's journey into the realm of cinema was ignited by a childhood filled with (questionable) access to R-rated action and horror films, sparking a lifelong passion for storytelling. Having earned an MFA in Film and Television Production from USC's School of Cinematic Arts, Matt has immersed himself in the bustling landscape of the Los Angeles film industry for over a decade.
Specializing in horror and comedy, Matt has garnered acclaim for writing and directing numerous award-winning short films. Notably, two of his horror films have collectively amassed over 1.9 million views on the Alter channel on YouTube, showcasing his ability to captivate global audiences with his unique vision.
Beyond the director's chair, Matt is also a film editor and a member of the Editor's Guild. He has worked on several acclaimed television shows, including HBO's Peacemaker, ABC's The Goldbergs, AMC's Tales of The Walking Dead, and ABC's The Rookie. Matt has also edited a feature film for Netflix as well as commercial spots for such popular brands as Subway, AXM, Behr, Toho Studios, Tastemade, Wal-Mart, and L.L. Bean.
In addition to his filmmaking endeavors, Matt is a podcasting enthusiast. For six years, he created and produced the comedic movie review podcast "License to Watch," alongside co-hosts Harris McCabe and Colin Shaw. With a different industry guest on every episode, the show focused on analyzing movie franchises. Such guests included Aaron Cooley (Show runner of the Showtime series, The First Ladies), Carl Tart (actor/comedian known for NBC's Grand Crew, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Comedy Bang Bang!), and Tony Rettenmaier & Juel Taylor (writers of Creed II and Space Jam: A New Legacy)
When not immersed in the world of cinema, Matt can often be found on the pickleball court, engrossed in captivating books or comics, or marveling at the magic of IMAX movies. With a loving family consisting of a wonderful spouse, one brilliant daughter, and an adorably mischievous dog, Matt navigates life's adventures armed with humor and a penchant for the unexpected.
